“The Tower of Babel” represents the newest project of the series “Agoraphobia”.
Agoraphobia is defined as fear of being in an open space or in a crowd, in public spaces, the fear of leaving a safe zone. “The Tower of Babel” represents the newest project of this series. The works were designed especially for the claustrophobic space of an interior staircase, taking place on three sides. The first three sides and the sketches of the project, for the West wall, will be presented to the public. These works refer to the moment when the tower was built, moment when the crowd becomes the creative force. Theater, music, art, philosophy come together in order to dominate the crowd. On the North wall, Traian Boldea, through a single work of art, will offer the image of a crowd full of vanity in which the cardinal virtues are killed, and the theological ones are expelled. Western wall, still in a stage of idea, will present the appearance of divinity, tower demolition and the Garden Parnassus.
The elaborateness of working in pen and ink and the idea of a delirious crowd outline a fantastic tenacity and a rich philosophical meaning. In the crowd you can meet Plato, Michelangelo, Leonardo, Shakespeare etc, you just have to look carefully.
